Numbers

I'm never sure whether I should say I have "a lot of" cels or not. Just how many cels are required to have a "large" or a "small" collection? Perhaps there should be a community standard gauge of some sort. Hmmm...
Less than 50: Tiny
50 to 150: Small
150 to 300: Large
300 to 500: Huge
Over 500: Gargantuan
Or maybe we should start the categories at "SD" - hee!

I didn't think about how long it would take to enter items into the gallery if I actually wanted to record the details - like how many sketches, cel number, etc. I pretty much have to look at each one as I enter it (which really isn't a bad thing when I think about it - more fun drooling over them). I didn't really record where I got any of them from, or when, or things like cost, though now I wish I had. Sigh.

Like most people I have tons of odd sketches that do no match the cels they came with, and generally don't have any content (i.e. they are special effects cels, or an odd layer with only eybrows). I was trying to decide what to do with them. I decided that I would post any unmatched sketches that actually had content with the series each was from. Matched sketches, obviously, get uploaded with their cel. The others will sit in their folder. Though I think it would be funny if someone sponsored and "unmatched sketch" contest of some kind, where a person would cg the content of the sketch that is left out. I have a really funny "naughty tentacle" sketch that would be fun to manipulate.

I realize that one *knows* that technology is getting better quickly, but the processing of re-scanning all my cels in honor of the move to rubberslug has brought that truth home. I think the last time most of these saw the plate of a scanner was back in 2001. It's much better and faster on my new scanner/printer. I've invested around 6-7 hours on the project so far, and I'm in love with my cels all over again!

I haven't purchased a cel for probably 3 or 4 years, then this summer I went a little wild on ebay. I must have purchased 10 cels. Weird. But I did get a really high level wishlist cel back in about February - Ryo-Ohki as a boy going in to give the "kiss of power" to Sasami from the Pretty Sammy OVA. So cool! I've wanted that ever since I first saw the OVA.
